"Where the fuck did you see someone fighting a dinosaur? A real dinosaur."
The stipulation tacked on like Jax assumes she means some kind of weird wrestling match. He lets her though, even if it strikes him as a little ridiculous, Kate directing his posture, his movements. Everything Jax knows dictates that this should be the other way around, but he has a little more leeway in space. Not a lot of people know what Sons are, what it means. Jax has some wiggle room, even if fully taking advantage of that doesn't sit easy with him.
"By the Natural History Museum," Kate says. Duh, Jax. She talks as she directs, watches him adjust, directs again. "Someone brought the fossils back to life and Captain Marvel punched them out. I wasn't there, but I saw it online. It was was pretty much the most badass thing ever."
She steps back finally, and gestures for him to continue, eyes narrowing as she watches. Archery is serious business, Jax.
"Bet that'd end up on Youtube where I'm from. Never been to that Museum though."
It wasn't like Charming was the height of cultural pursuits. But that's neither here nor there, not when Jax has arrows to shoot. And apparently, targets to graze. He wants a bullseye, he should be able to get a bullseye, but he hits the outer circle and curses.
"It'd be pretty crazy if it didn't," Kate agrees of youtube. "It's a cool museum. I'm partial to the Met, personally, but they're both worth it if you're ever in town."
She watches, biting down on her lower lip to hold in a grin at his frustration. "It is definitely easier with a gun. Way fewer variables involved as long as it's not a sniper rifle from a mile off or something. But hey, you hit the target! That's actually not bad for just a couple lessons in with a bow that doesn't fit you. Watch your elbow, here--" she steps over, pointing out a thing he's doing, demonstrating the proper technique, making him go again to make sure it's getting fixed.
Apropos of exactly nothing she asks, "So how come you didn't sign up for recon?"
The answer should be none. Museums weren't a thing, not if you grew up in Charming. Letting her direct him without snappy commentary is hard, but it's space, and cut off from the Sons, it's easier to let go of the whole bullshit macho routine, the casual dismissal.
"Because I work Gunnery." he replies, shrugging, hefting the bow in his hand. "I got a job to do. Shit, I wasn't much of an explorer anyway."
